Lapalux . Some Other Time EP

Stuart Howard aka LAPALUX, one of the most recent innovative producers, released on the 16th October his second EP 'Some Other Time' on BRAINFEEDER (his thirt ep actually).
This EP shows an improvement in his skills. He always mixed a lot of different sounds and textures, that sometimes could sound a little weird, but this time everything works so well together. There are so many textures running through all the album, the bells, the xylophone, the birds, the vocals, the synths.. all this makes this album sound really coherent, the tunes really work one after the other.
My focus goes to Forgetting and Learning Again... my favortie tune from the album. The sweet and lovely vocals of Kerry Leatham shows the R&B influences in the tune and his position in the new electronic music scene. The EP ends with Close Call / Chop Cuts, a lovely ending tune that reveals what Lapalux is all about.

In the meantime, this friday (19) he's coming to lisbon to MusicboxLisboa and he will be showing this new ep for the first time in Europe! If you're near make sure you won't miss it!

Rafiq Bhatia . Sons of the Morning Remixes

As you might know, Teebs and Perfuse 73 joined to create a new project - Sons of the Morning
I've heard or just read one day on Twitter that an album or something would come out one day ( I really hope so! Because they make a beautiful job together).
Here are two remixes from Rafiq Bhatia's new EP Strata. The first one is a really beautiful (but short) remix of "Sunshower" (producers shouldn't make good tunes so short!) In the second one there's no reference to the track but it's amazing as well. It's so good to hear the influences of Teebs here!
Just hope to hear more from this lovely collab really soon!
You can check more about this EP here!
(in love with the artwork)

Flying Lotus . Until The Quite Comes

So, the quiet finally came!!
The genius Steven Ellison, a.k.a. Flying Lotus released today his new album, "Until The Quiet Comes".
The album that everyone has been talking about! Or maybe the fans were just too excited about it! The album is extraordinary like everything he does. It flows perfectly, in the beginning you don't even notice the transition between some tunes. Since the album is full of short tracks, it actually seems that it's playing only one (big) song. It's full of dreamy and beautiful sounds, like those sweet bells, the piano, the soft and sublime guitar, the violin, the lovely vocals... but this wouldn't be a flylo album without mixing the jazzy sounds with those rough hip hop beats and synthesizers. An amazing album from an amazing producer, that includes huge collaborations with Erykah Badu, Niki Randa, Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Thundercat and more. You can/should stream the whole album here and check all the videos and info related here!

Text taken from Round Square, my new collaboration!

Here is one of my favorite tracks from the album, so lovely  .

If you don't know yet, Harmonimix is a heteronym of James Blake. Whatever the name he uses, he always makes really amazing stuff. This is his new official video of this super tune (that I really love) "Confidence Boost", a collaboration with Trim.

Flying Lotus . Putty Boy Strut

So it's been all about FlyLo, everything that he does it's actually insane, and this is another proof, a video with the "factorybots",  some robot models created by Cyriak. An amazing video and tune from his upcoming album "Until The Quite Comes".

Flying Lotus . Until The Quiet Comes.

Flying Lotus is constantly surprising me! What a beautiful, deep and so amazing video that I just watched! This, so anticipated short film "Until The Quite Comes", made by Kahlil Joseph, features three new tracks from his upcoming album also titled "Until The Quiet Comes" that will be out in October 1st (now I really can't wait for it). Super Beautiful and dreamy tracks featuring Erykah Badu and Niki Randa.  The album also includes collaborations with Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Thundercat, and more. Will be amazing!

Groundislava . Feel Me

Jasper Patterson aka Groundislava, one of the members from the WEDIDIT crew, has released his
new "Feel Me "LP. A super consistent album, which I consider a huge step in his musical career. It's still obvious the so characteristic 8-bit video games sounds, and the influence of the 80's, but there's something else here! That collaboration with Baths is really beautiful, and it' pretty clear that he's really good with that, since the album is full of great collabs, like the "Bottle Service" alongside Shlohmo (oh god that tune!)
Jasper song I and II is really different from his other stuff, I really love that soft and sensible touch. An amazing atmosphere is created by all those different styles and rhythms present in this album.

Jasper, you deserve a kiss for this.

Flying Lotus . “Between Friends” (Feat. Earl Sweatshirt & Captain Murphy)

This is the best track that i've heard recently, a track from Adult Swim’s Singles Program series, produced by Flying Lotus featuring Earl Sweatshirt and “Captain Murphy”.

Frank Ocean . channel ORANGE

Some weeks ago Frank Ocean, one of the members of Odd Future, released his super amazing debut Channel ORANGE. An album that can't be ignored, that I'm completely in love! When the album dropped, I checked it all and I loved some of the tunes right away, but then it just got lost in my iTunes so I didn't hear it again..  After some days, I was in vacation, chilling and I decided to listen it all again and that was when I realized that the more I listened to the album, the more I liked it! It's really amazing! All the lyrics and the beats are so beautiful..  Thinking About You, Sierra Leone, Sweet Life, Lost, Crack Rock, Bad Religion, Pink Matter and Golden Girl ft. Tyler.. are all my favorites!
It was also pretty amazing when I read his "thank you's" message (that you can/should read here), where he writes some really strong and honest words, revealing that he's gay and some other facts of his life. A really emotional message that I have to confess that touched me, and made me listen to the album in another way.
I also fell in love with his first TV performance at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, performing his single "Bad Religion", it was so beautiful with the string orchestra.. please check it here!
Thank you Frank for this epic album and your so honest and lovely words ♥

Klaus Layer (Captain Crook)

Soooo, I just discovered Klaus Layer aka or pka Captain Crook, and OH MA DAYYYSS, this guy really knows how to put your ears and your head shaking all over! His beats are killing me! So Fucking dope!
Just try to put your headphones really loud and feel the bass! Daammn!!
From what i've read, he's from Germany and we can totally feel and hear the influence of the local graffiti scene and the 90's hip hop in his work.
Just make a favor to your ears, go to his soundcloud and listen to every single tune! Really loud! (It's super good)

I found him today when I saw this video below and I had to search right away for more of his stuff.
Every tune that i've heard was a banger!
Just feel and breathe the beats!

LOL Boys . Changes

Jerome Potter and Markus Garcia are the members behind the name LOL Boys . The LA/Montreal duo released some days ago on Friends of Friends their new Changes EP.
"Things won't change until we do", it's how the EP starts, with "Changes", one of my favorite tunes with those jazz influences and the lovely vocals. Love the different rhythms throughout the album, some more jazzy some more danceable some more atmospheric. I'm actually quite obsessed with this, love every single tune.  It's a good album for the summer, with tunes featuring Heart Streets, Angelina Lucero, one-take cover by Anenon and an exclusive super good remix from Shlohmo.
Enjoy it as much as I do!

Space Ghost . You're there LP

Some weeks ago Space Ghost released his debut full-length album "You're There" on Astro Nautico.  An album that deserves to be shared and heard by everyone. An amazing trip between different textures and organic sounds, a super chilled album that I love to listen from the beginning till the end. With some tunes that reminds me of BOC, Knxwledge.. Really love his work, and this album is just another proof that his work is brilliant.

Question 'Bows' / Erykah Badu 'Gon Baby, Don't Be Long'

One of the things that I love is when I'm listening some random tune and I can relate it immediately to another one.. sometimes I'm not that shrewd, but I won't stop my research till I find that tune, that is playing in my head, and I just can't remember the name! (Sometimes I have wait for that random moment when it plays somewhere and suddenly you remember!) I'm sure this already happened to you.. and yeah, here's one of those cases.. The other day I was listening this tune 'Bows' from Question, and instantly came to my mind the Erykah Badu's lovely track 'Gone Baby, Don't Be Long'.  Love both! But Erykah wins here!

CHAINLESS, another young producer from Lisbon, has dropped yesterday his debut Ephemera EP, a 6 track EP, all made really fast, one after another, where everything is in the right place, even if all of them kinda feel incomplete. Not that it's a bad thing, actually I think it's pretty cool. Cause when your listening a track and suddunly it ends, you're like, wtf I want more! but right after it starts another banger so your desire it's already satisfied. It's a safe way of not being bored of one track, you actually want to listen it againg and again. My favorites are Metropolis and Antzo II, the 3:20 min of the EP that are on repeat.
There's also a pretty nice remix from IVVVO (another Portuguese producer that you must check if you don't know him). Take a listen and support!

Breathing Beats exclusive mix # 6 by Emylis

Emylis is a Lithuanian dj that it's currently living in Lisbon.
All his desire to become a dj came by the age of 13, when he first saw the videos of "Technics DMC championship". So, instead of learning how to mix, he started to learn how to scratch first.
Since scratching is closely related with Hip-Hop music, he started discovering this style and was purely a hip-hop dj for the first 4 years of his career. Attended national MC battles, hip-hop parties and played at events with grand artists like Jeru Tha Damaja, Loop Troop, Ugly Duckling, & Dead Prez.
Since he has a comprehensive approach in terms of music, soon started looking after the roots of hip-hop & discovered funk, soul & reggae music. Shortly he started combining these styles and discovered groovy beats & breaks, disco and broken beat. This improvement led him to become one of the the most wanted djs at the national "Urban Dance" tournaments for the last 4 years and to enter more variable venues as a dj.
Over time, he met more styles, added some electronic spice to his sets and fell in love with what we call "electronic beats" music. Last 3 years closely followed this type of sound and was one of the first few diggers & developers of this style in the night of Lithuania.
He moved to London to gain more musical experience, and there he formed a solid taste for uk funky, dub-step and house music. But long term desire to discover warmer culture and lifestyle brought him to Portugal, to Lisbon, wheres he's currently living.

Breathing Beats just had the pleasure to have an exclusive mix made by him. Since he has a wide
musical knowledge, and he likes to mix a bit of everything, in this mix you will experience a trip that goes from hip hop to some experimental, tropical, electronic dance music.
A very eclectic mix with a great selection that you won't get bored. Trust me. (I'm in love with the first track)

Twit One - Melikeyou
Nick Wisdom - Alien Kiss
1000names - Water Resistant Rakete
Architeq - Odyssey (Dan Lissvik Long Version)

Onra - They Got Breaks Two
Richy Pitch - Ninsou (Feat. Kwesi Dankwa)

T o r u s EP

Joeri Woudstra aka Torus is an 18-year-old producer from The Hague. A young talented producer who is standing out among thousands of others with the release of his debut EP! I was waiting for this since early February! And it's finally out! A super cohesive EP, with soft beautiful sounds that drives you to an amazing dream. The EP starts with "Blurred", a deep and dark tune with ghostly vocals but still with some sweet touch. We softly jump to "Cavemonsters are Kind". If this track was a cavemonster, he wouldn't only be kind but also one of the loveliest monsters on earth, floating somewhere in his dream. In "Forest" I can actually visualize a hunter walking in a dark and scary forest.  Then "Knocks" is such a beautiful track, those ghostly vocals makes it so deep and mysterious. "Monday Masses" is another lovely one, the water bubbles and the nature noises transport me to a dreamy atmosphere that continues in "Vocaldonuts" with those lovely volcals. There are still two great remixes, one from Dynooo and other from Slugabed.
Have to admit that some of the tracks here sound a bit like shlohmo but that doesn't depriciates the wonderfull work that Joeri made here.
After this and after listening the whole EP, i'm sure you will want/need/have to buy it, so just do it and support this talented producer that will be the next shit.

Axel Kacoutié . Version EP

Axel Kacoutie, a producer and composer from London, released some weeks ago his first EP 'Version.' An EP that varies from some soft lovely beats in 'Passive smoke' to some more danceable vibes in 'Linger'. Pretty cool track with some great vocals. Those are definitely my favourites, cause then we can still find some different style in the last track 'Poison my Brain', a little more heavy. Still a very cool EP that you can download for free!

Marcel Everett aka xxyyxx is another amazing young producer. He's from Orlando and one of the members of Abstract Records.
This morning he dropped on his soundcloud this new lovely tune with Anneka, "Overdone". I think it's my favourite tune from all that i've heard from him. It's so soft and Anneka's voice is really beautiful.  Most of the rest of his tracks are more danceable, like the "LUV U GRL" that just makes you think about friday night. Super hot. Such a beautiful piece! A cohesive album that you won't get enough. It just flows perfectly.

Here is the album teaser. Gotta love every single track. (Botley in Bloom is something).

Quite hard to say that this is one of my favourites, since all of the tracks are a dreamy piece, but still, this one is really goood. The vocals here remind me of The Weeknd.

S h l o h m o . Vacation

Yesterday was released by Friends Of Friends, Shlohmo's new EP 'Vacation'. With three original tracks and four remixes from Nicolas Jaar, Airhead, Salva, Groundislava and also some more, like the one from Teebs, that will be released only digitally.
Once again, he makes it perfect. I think that Bad Vibes somehow was turning too repetitive, but this one came to break that! The vocals, the organic sounds, the water drops, the guitar, the glass sounds, everythings works perfectly together. He says this EP is more danceable and more electronic, but still is dreamy and very emotive I think (it's just the way he makes it, and i love it) . Im in love with 'The Way U Do, those vocals and the combination with some hip hop vibes.. Seriously, you got me!

Here it is. The Way U Do

And this beauty that dropped yesterday, Shlohmo and Teebs!!! Lovely surprise!

Berlin // CTM Festival

So I’m back from Berlin! What an amazing city! I met really nice people! People that follow my blog, people from other blogs/music scene like Hyphae, TodaysArt, a Portuguese producer Aceloria, and a lot more! (Have to thank all of them for making this trip a so much better one). In one week, between all the touristic part, visiting museums, and CTM,  I went to 4 parties, starting in a Sunday night with Ben UFO, Appleblim, Shackleton and Shed, that was really cool, full of people dancing all night and everyone was crazy. Then, Tuesday went to one of the CTM’s night at Kantine and Berghain. What a cool club, seriously, never heard anything like that, the place is awesome, I was shaking with that soundsystem! Amazing! Then Thursaday was  the Triangle Showcase with Balam Acab, oOoOO, Holy Other and Kuedo. When I arrived, oOoOO was playing 'No Way Back' and was so lovely! Right on time! After that was Balam Acab, have to say that he didn’t impressed me so much, wasn’t very exciting, but Holy Other was so intense! With that soundsystem of Berghain, jesus was perfect! And Kuedo also killed it! Was realllly good! With some gangsta vibes also, just couldn’t stop dancing! And he looks sexy when he’s playing! Then Saturday night, went to Gretchen, where was playing Shlohmo, Salva, Hudson Mohawke and Delfonic. What can I say about this night!!?? For me was perfect! I love Shlohmo maybe too much, so for me, watching him playing live was really like a dream coming true.. sounds cheesy I know, but that’s the true.. when I saw him, I felt happiness floating all over me!  When he played his burial remix I had goose bumps of happiness, I almost couldn’t breathe with everything that I was feelling.. and I love how he plays! He just don’t give a fuck and dances/ acts kinda crazy, but I love it! The way he feels his music makes me feel it even more! I think i've never felt like that while i was listening to someone else playing.. really too strong feelings! I was just sad for not having the opportunity to talk with him, but more opportunities will come (I hope!) Then Salva was also a fucking badass! And Hudson also!! I think I really improved my gangsta moves that night! Pretty fucking good night/s!
CTM was great, Berlin IS great, everything, except the cold (-14 that felt like -20)!  See you soon Berlin! For sure!

This was/and will be definitly the song that i will always remember from this trip. One of the highest points! Thanks Shlohmo

Thursday, February 2, 2012

I'm sorry for the lack of posts, but last week was a tough one, had my final exams and now I'm in Berlin for CTM Festival, so there was not much time for posts on the blog (still share on facebook, it's easier).
But anyway, I've been hanging around, and having a great time in Berlin with the guys from Hyphae. If you remember, a few months ago, I collaborated with them in their event Hyphae II, in wich I streamed the whole performances of all the artists at Owoce i Warzywa  in Poland. So, basically Hyphae is an innovative music platform which provides insight into the nowadays exploding digital and web-based music culture through live-streamed performances by artists from all over the world.  They are back on the 26th of February, with their 3rd edition, Hyphae III, feauturing performances of new talented producers like Mux Mool [US], Ben Butler & Mousepad [UK], Oknai [SL], Alphabets Heaven [UK], Pazes [BR], Jimmy Pé [SK], Moon Wheel [DE], Steindór Kristinsson [NL/IS] and for the first time, a Portuguese producer, IVVVO.   There will be different venues in different cities/countries hosting this event :

Greenwood Sharps . Things Familiar

Greenwood Sharps is a music producer from London. Things Familiar EP is his first official release, released on May 2011. It's not that new but it's still fresh, so deserves to be shared with you.
Full of beautiful melodies that creates an amazing atmosphere. The 3rd track, 'Things Familiar', is super lovely, reminds me a little of shlohmo .
Hope to see more from him in 2012!
